I’m Here
As I walked down the hill I could feel her. I extended my fingers and reached for her hands.
She was small. Tiny. A sweet child.
Her tiny feet tipping as she tried to keep up the pace with me. I could phisically feel her little fingers and soft skin as my palms twindled around her hand.
‘I’m here.’ I told her and smiled. We both cried. Her cheeks red and swollen, soaked in tears.
‘Where is papa?’ We both asked.
I leaned downwards again, holding her tiny hand even stronger.
‘I’m here little one. I’ll always be here. I will never leave you.’
‘Where is papa?’ We both asked.
‘He will be gone soon.’ I said. ‘I will take care of you from now on. I am here.’
I smiled from behind tears.
The path ahead of us was illuminated by the sunrays as we walked down the hill. We were within walking distance of the house. Where we grew up. There was light. Wind. Warmth.
The rocky road crackled under our feet. From now on, she’ll live in my heart. Sit on my lap. I’ll hold her face and kiss her tears. She will never be alone, dead or alive, I’ll embrace her.
‘Where is papa?’
I feel her, I almost see her and I hear her.
‘Papa, where are you?’
Moje Sunce… My Sun… My Father.
I will be with you. In the sun. In the wind. In the warmth and in the cold.
In the hills, the sky, the waters flowing.
In life,
and in death.
