Narrative Design — Human Lore — The East
The Human kingdoms have four domain.
Each of them are dedicated to the cardinal directions around the world.
The Kingdom Of East are blessed with a strict ruler. He wholly dedicated himself to learn one particular thing and only that in the world. The Eastern King is obsessed with time.
He believes that time is the core driving force of all things and since it is merely just a mechanism, it can be surely modified or its function, overwritten. He channels all his foci on researching the aspects of time with the help of mages from all over the four kingdoms. Said, that in his fortress he has built chambers reaching deep into the core of the Earth for the king and his scientists believe that the closer they reach to the center of the ground, the more the meaning of time will be revealed.
When a visitor arrives to the Eastern Kingdom he might receives the strangest sensation when entering the land. Walking among trees, rivers and peaceful grounds, one possibly gets the creeping feeling of something just isn’t right. In a place where time was altered by furrow magic this thrill is an aftereffect.
The humans use four kinds of magic: Healing powers, Conjuration, Furrow Magic and Havoc.
Human magic is well known and practiced easily by other races, apart from Furrow magic. During the progress of this particular power the human mage is ‘furrowing’, altering something by laying cuts in its molecules. The practice is controversial and greatly disapproved by Ealves and Dwarves. Only the human has the utmost curiosity to modify something and change the nature of things.
Furrow magic has allowed the Eastern King to build a fearful reputation to himself. It is said that he has an army of uncommon soldiers who had been touched by furrow magic and have grown two heads and multiple brains. Accusations of having these soldiers taken back in time after they have died, to reconstruct them is the darkest of chatter among the folks. It is not known whether this fact is true or false, but the word on uncommon soldiers unable to die, is spreading fast across the lands.
Legend has it among the Ealven tales that once a scout from Suulringen wandered towards the Human reign. In his scrutiny for unknown things he entered the gates of the East not knowing what he shall proceed to encounter.
The Ealven scout held an outstanding wonder towards Human creatures and by sneaking into their lands he had been collecting facts and information on their ways of living.
Upon entering the land the nosy Ealf had the strangest of feelings. He felt the air stiff and the leaves of trees were not moving, yet the wind was howling.
Fear crept upon his heart as he started to tremble. Frozen and still, he stood in the strange woods when all of a sudden he heard a creak. A tree branch broke in half as the Ealf’s head turned.
A creature — seemingly a man — approached. On his abnormally grand head two face was sitting, his eyes barely open. His arms, all four of them clenched on swords and shields, rattling. He mumbled, but his speech was incomparable.
The Ealf gasped for air and in the next moment he fled in terror. He ran all the way to a Suulringen clan where he slept for four days suffering from nightmares of the two faced monster the humans have created.
