Midnight Mass, 2021 Motion Picture

The White Soul, wails out in vain, father
I see him, I see you, I burst into the cosmos;
Through him;
My soul, ashen, in flames, the sullen dance begins,
He pulls me back, towards the mortal realm,
The light, he brought within him
Oh but we aren’t alone, as I never was;
I’m tied again, back in my chains, they rattle.

The Devil spoke tenderly, he wants me back;
There is no release, how do I allude,
I try, I cry, I am done and undone,
Around my arms, a black tie; iron chains
They rattle, rattle, come back to me,
You’re mine, says the unholy;
He retracts, my body, torn apart
My soul, bursts out in white flames;
It attempts its escape.

Midnight Mass, 2021 Motion Picture

The violin howls, the piano rumbles;
In circles, circles, we go; I am consumed
By both light and darkness; yet again
Always in-between; a halfling,
Undertakes her rescue,
But I am his, forevermore; the chains;
Reconciling, to where I belong,
To the in-between, neither here, nor there;
All in all, there is no circumvent,
I must stay, linger, and shine;
In harrowing sorrow, between your world
And theirs; as I’m essential,
The keeper of gates, the vessel of the sacred;
I must crumble, watch you all live; and go
While I resent; my own soul
At last, emerges in white light.
